September 13 – World Sepsis Day

world-sepsis-day-thermo-fisher-scientificSepsis is a systemic inflammatory response to infection that can progress to organ failure and death.

According to numbers from Global Sepsis Alliance (GSA), sepsis kills about 20,000 people worldwide every single day, or in other words: every three to four seconds somebody dies of sepsis globally. World Sepsis Day is an initiative of the GSA and its founding members, all of whom are non-profit organizations. Each year on September 13, various activities take place around the world to raise awareness of sepsis.

Thermo Fisher Scientific is proud to be a sponsor of this event from the start in 2012.
